The Hum Chin Peng Stall on Cintra Street (29 November 2012)

The
hum chin peng stall on Cintra Street (GPS: 5.41795, 1000.3335) is probably the most popular hum chin peng stall in Penang. It is one of those "food institutions" that holds up Penang's position as a popular food destination. Located near the intersection with Campbell Street, the stall is operated nightly. It receives a steady stream of buyers, as it has been around for decades. The original operator has since passed the stall on to probably his children.
The hum chin peng stall on Cintra Street sells two types of hum chin peng. One is salted while the other has red bean filling. Each has its own unique taste (though the salted ones are my favourite).
Updates on the Cintra Street Hum Chin Peng stall
9 March, 2017 We found that the hum chin peng at this stall has reduced in size, and at the same time, increased in price from RM0.60 to RM1.00. However, our main disappointment is that the hum chin peng was not as fluffy as before. I regret not taking a photo to show and will visit this stall one more time in future, to see if it is a one-time drop in quality or permanent.
