Ambala (Hindi: अम्बाला शहर) is a city in Ambala district, in the state of Haryana, India. Located between Haryana and neighbouring Punjab, Ambala comprises two parts, Ambala City and Ambala Cantt. It has one of the oldest and biggest air force bases in India, a legacy of British administration. The city went down in history as the site where Mahatma Gandhi's assassin, Nathuram Godse, was hanged for his crime.
