Anantapur is a city in southwestern Andhra Pradesh, India. Located at an elevation of 335 m (1099 ft), it has a population of 263,000 people (2012 estimate). The language spoken here is Telegu.

Anantapur experiences a semi-arid climate. Hottest month is May, when temperature may reach 37°C (99°F). On the other hand, temperature may drop to 17°C in December and January.
