Bhadravathi (Kannada: ಭದ್ರಾವತಿ) is a city in Shimoga district, in the state of Karnataka, India. It is close to the geographical heart of the state, abuot 255 km (158 mi) to the northwest of Bengaluru. Bhadravathi cpvers 67 sq km (26 sq mi) and has a population of 160,000 people (2012 estimate). The river Bhadra flows through the city and gave it its name.
Today Bhadravati is very much an industrial city. Among the industries here include a major iron and steel plant and a paper mill. The city also has a number of tourist attractions worth checking out.
Planning your trip to Bhadravathi
From Bengaluru, take Highway 48 heading northwest to Tumkur. From there, continue on Highway 73 heading west to Devanur, then on Highway 69 heading northwest to reach Bhadravati.
