Bhagalpur (Devnagri: भागलपुर, Tirhute/Urdu: بہاگل پور, Bengali: ভাগলপুর) is the second largest city in Bihar, India. Located in the Ganges river basin, the city covers 2569 sq km and has a population of around 600,000 people (2012 estimate).

Bhagalpur has existed for centuries. It was mentioned in the chronicles of 7th century Chinese travelers such as Hsüan-tsang. The city is renowned for its silk industry that continues to thrive today.
