Hisar (Hindi: हिसार) is a city located 164 km to the west of New Delhi, in the state of Haryana, India. Founded in 1354 by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, it is today a major city of Haryana away from the National Capital Region. The area however has been inhabited since as early as the 3rd century BC.
Hisar experiences a continental climate with very hot summers and cool winters. Highest temperatures are experienced in July, around 41°C (105.8°F). January is the coldest month, when average low temperature drops to 5.5°C (42°F). Hisar gets the most rain in August, at 147 mm (5.8 in).
