Barber's Tomb (GPS: 28.59223, 77.25189) is a mausoleum within the grounds of Lodi Gardens. As you explore the grounds of Humayun's tomb at Lodi Gardens in Delhi, you will come upon an impressive square tomb with a double-dome on the southeast. This tomb is believed to be built in the 16th Century. I visited it on my free day of my tour of India.
It is not quite known who is buried inside it, although it is usually referred to as Barber's tomb. There are two graves inside it inscribed with verses from the Quran. One of the graves is inscribed with the figure 999, which may stand for the 'Hijra' year corresponding to 1590-91.
Within Barber's Tomb are the ornamental cenotaph of one male and one female. The water channels around the tomb are quite recent, added only around 1905-1909.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
