Pahalgam is a hill station in Anantnag district, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Located 2,740 m (8,990 ft) above sea level, it is a tourist destination and popular movie set for Bollywood films. Pahalgam has scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Many devotees make a pilgrimage here during the annual Amarnath Cave Pilgrimage. This takes place during the month of Sawan, which coincides with the July-August time frame. The cave shrine of Amarnath is regarded as one of the holiest in Hinduism.
