Warangal (Telugu: వరంగల్; Urdu: وارنگل) is a city in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It has a population of 870,000 people (2012 estimate). Located 148 km to the northeast of Hyderabad, Warangal is also the district capital. The Warangal District comprises the cities of Warangal, Hanamakonda and Kazipet.
Warangal is 302 m (991 ft) above sea level. It experiences a semi-arid climate, with summer temperatures often touching 42°C (108°F). The summer months begin in March, reaching its peak in May. The monsoon arrives in June, bringing with it rain and wet weather. During the rainy season, temperature is around 23°C (73°F).
