Bali Bombing Memorial (GPS: -8.71729, 115.17449) is a monument to those who lost their lives in the first terrorist bombing of Kuta, Bali, on 12 October, 2002, which claimed 202 lives, injured 240, destroyed two drinking establishments, Paddy's Pub and Sari Club, and causing undue damage to the streets and Bali's reputation. The memorial is located along Jalan Legian, on the former site of Paddy's Pub, the establishment that was destroyed by the bombs. (A new incarnation of the bar has since reopened down the road, called Paddy's: Reloaded).
The dedication of the Bali Bombing Memorial was conducted on 12 October, 2004, two years after the attack. Indonesian officials and the ambassador of Australia attended it, along with mourners from all over the world.
Across from the memorial is the Bali Peace Park, occupying the site of the former Sari Club.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
