Medewi Beach is a beach area on the west coast of Bali. It is one of the spots favored by surfers for its breakers that can reach a height of 7 meters. The beach itself is of black sand with shiny black stones and pebbles here and there. On clear days, you can see as far as Java from here.

Located on a promontory 6 km to the west of Medewi Beach is the sprawling temple complex of Pura Rambut Siwi. The temple faces the wide expanse of the Indian Ocean. It was established by the famous Majapahit priest Dang Hyang Nirartha. It is said to hold a sacred hair relic or rambut siwi, believed to be that of the priest, in its pavilion shrine.

In addition to Pura Rambut Siwi, there are numerous small temples and shrines along the coast of Medewi Beach.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
