Pura Taman Saraswati is a Balinese temple in Ubud. It was established by Bali's most famous artist, I Gusti Nyoman Lempad, under the oder of Ubud's prince, to honor the Hindu deity Saraswati, the goddess of learning, literature, and the arts.
Pura Taman Saraswati is set within a water garden with a lotus pond as its center of attraction. The artist himself has decorated the temple with many of his own carvings. Among the sights at the temple is a three-meter-tall statue of the demon Jero Gede Mecaling.
The
padmasana shrine, as usual, is located on the northeast of the temple complex. It is the throne of the Balinese supreme god.
Pura Taman Saraswati is usually closed to the public, but can be accessed from the adjacent Café Lotus.
