Taman Nasional Bali Barat or West Bali National Park is a national park covering much of the western end of Bali. The park protects 19,000 hectares (46,930 acres) of wilderness. It extends offshore to include some of the most popular dive sites in Bali.
Taman Nasional Bali Barat has a number of hiking trails ranging from gentle strolls to some rather strenuous treks. You can reach it by car from South Bali within 3-4 hours, or 1 1/2 hours from Lovina.
The national park is home to the Bali Starling, the only bird species endemic to the island. Due to poaching, the number of Bali starling has dropped alarmingly ovewr the past few years, but steps taken to augment the wild population through captive breeding has somewhat stabilized the population.
If you wish to go hiking or diving in Taman Nasional Bali Barat, you need to obtain a permit from the national park post at Labuhan Lalang or at the national park headquarters at Cekik. You would need to bring along a photocopy of your passport to get the permit.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
