Hotel Silintong (GPS: 2.67063, 98.8616) is a hotel on the eastern tip of Tuk Tuk on Samosir Island, in Lake Toba. It is located at Jl. Durian No.5, Tuk-Tuk, Siodang, Samosir, Indonesia. This is where I stayed, with a small group of AsiaExplorers members, when we explored Samosir Island.
The location of Hotel Silintong is just perfect, and the hotel itself is meticulously upkept with lots of flowering plants, especially orchids of various types. Considering the abundance of orchids at the hotel, the management even put up a sign saying that the orchids are not for sale. In front of Hotel Silintong is a lily pond (it seems to be fairly common on this part of Samosir, as I saw one at the Bagus Bay guesthouse too).
The rooms at Hotel Silintong is fairly comfortable, but surprisingly, without air conditioning. This is something which I noticed about the hotels in North Sumatran highlands, even those that appear to be at the top range. They seem to expect that the air is cool enough for the tourists. Except for Berastagi, I find that the other towns are not high enough for the hotels to do away with air conditioning. Nevertheless, the views more than made up for this minor inconvenience.
What I love most about Hotel Silintong is of course the view. From this tip of the peninsula, you can get great views of the eastern bank of Lake Toba. At certain times of the day, especially at dawn and dusk, the scenery is simply gorgeous. So if you are coming to Lake Toba, and staying on Samosir Island, I would recommend that you put up at Hotel Silintong, or any of the other hotels and guesthouses at the tip of Tuk Tuk peninsula.

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
