Ipoh Lane, Jelutong, when market is in session (3 December 2016)
Ipoh Lane or Lorong Ipoh is a lane in
Jelutong, Penang. It is the first parallel road west of the Jelutong Main Road. The lane actually forms an "L". The section between
Lebuhraya Jelutong and
Penaga Road is a straight proper road with terrace houses on both sides. It bends to the left and continues a short distance before becoming
Lorong Batu. Beyond the intersection of
Juru Lane is Lorong Batu.
Ipoh Lane comes alive every morning when the
Jelutong Market is in full swing. The Jelutong Market building is located at the junction of Ipoh Lane and
Penaga Road, but the stalls spill over to Ipoh Lane and Penaga Road.

The stalls along Ipoh Lane nearest the junction to Penaga Road sell vegetables, eggs, spices, kitchen utensils and freshly cooked dishes. Further south along Ipoh Lane, the stalls sell dry items such as flowers, plants, toys, watches - the usual
pasar malam stuff.
I usually go to the Jelutong Market on Ipoh Lane at least once a week to enjoy the Wantan Mee there. It is, in my opinion, the
best wantan mee in Penang.
