Jalan Arumugam Pillai, Bukit Mertajam (10 December 2016)
Jalan Arumugam Pillai is one of the major roads in Bukit Mertajam. It connects the northern part of town to the commercial heart. Jalan Arumugam Pillai begins at the junction with Jalan Abdul Kadir (state route P3) and Jalan Berapit (state route P131), and ends at the junction with Jalan Sungai Rambai and Jalan Muthu Palaniappan.
Jalan Arumugam Pillai forms junctions with Aston Road, Jalan Ciku, Jalan Datuk Ooh Chooi Chong and Jalan Pasar. While one can drive from the north end to the south end of Jalan Arumugam Pillai, due to its complicated traffic flow in the opposite direction, it is not possible to do the same the other way.
Jalan Arumugam Pillai was named after local prominent Tamil philantropist N. Arumugam Pillay @ NTS Arumugam Pillai, who also once served as the leader of the Penang branch of the political party, Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC). The late Arumugam Pillai was probably one of the most prominent Indian in the rubber industry, owning thousands of hectares of rubber plantation in Kedah. He passed away in India in 1989.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
