Jalan Gertak Sanggul is a country road on the southwestern part of Penang Island. It connects on its eastern end to Jalan Teluk Kumbar, in the village of the same name. The vehicular portion of Jalan Gertak Sanggul leads to the fishing village of Gertak Sanggul, which until recent years was nothing more than clusters of Malay and Chinese farm houses and homes of fishermen. Lately, the land along Jalan Gertak Sanggul have been gradually developed for housing development. Although low-rise, low-cost flats have been built here since the 1980s, high-end residential properties have also arrived in Gertak Sanggul since the turn of the 21st century.
Jalan Gertak Sanggul, the main road, remains a quite country road, interrupted by the occasional bustle near the village market. The area is famous for seafood in Penang. There are two major seafood restaurants along the road, as well as a few specialising in Malay-style prawn noodle or Mee Udang.
The junction of Jalan Gertak Sanggul is at a sharp cornering of Jalan Teluk Kumbar. State Route P235 offers an alternative route to reach Jalan Gertak Sanggul from Jalan Teluk Kumbar. It passes through an area of flats and low-medium-cost apartments.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
