Jalan Kebun Bunga (22 May 2013)
Jalan Kebun Bunga is the road in
George Town that leads to the
Penang Botanic Gardens.
Jalan Kebun Bunga was laid out for the purpose of linking the Gardens to town. Before it came into being, the main road was
Waterfall Road, a parallel road that forms an intersection with
Gottlieb Road and
Ayer Rajah Road, now known as Jalan Air Terjun. It has since been eclipsed by Jalan Kebun Bunga.
Many of the Hindu temples that were at the foot of
Penang Hill, particularly around the
Penang Waterfall can still be seen along Jalan Kebun Bunga. The biggest of them all are the
Nattukkottai Chettiar Temple and the
Balathandayuthapani Temple, which is the relocated premises of the original Waterfall Temple.
