Jalan Lembah, Kampung Kastam, Gelugor (10 January 2014)


Jalan Lembah is one of the main roads in Bukit Gelugor, Penang. It connects Jalan Yeap Chor Ee on the west to Hala Pemancar on the east side. In between, it also forms junctions with Jalan Kampung Kastam, Hilir Pemancar and Lorong Lembah 3. There is also a fork to Jalan Lembah near its eastern end which continues to the Gelugor Broadcasting Station.

The name Jalan Lembah means "valley road". In fact it passes through both valley and hill top on its way through the undulating terrain of Bukit Gelugor. Except for a row of government quarters on its western side, the road has no buildings along it. At time of writing (January 2014, updated January 2020), these government quarters appear to be vacant.

An affordable housing project known as Pr1ma@Bukit Gelugor was planned for the area occupied by the former quarters, but nothing has materialized at time of update (Jan 2020). Eventually the project was taken over by a private developer, Ideal Property Group, and was rebranded as Ideal Residency and Ideal Venice Residency.

As of February 2025, Jalan Lembah is seeing tremendous development with the construction of the Ayer Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway Bypass that runs parallel to it.

Getting there

There is a bus stop on the western end of Jalan Lembah which is served by Rapid Penang bus 206 and 302.
