Jalan Padang Lalang, Bukit Mertajam

Jalan Padang Lalang, Bukit MertajamJalan Padang Lalang, Bukit Mertajam (3 January 2024)

Jalan Padang Lalang is a major road in Bukit Mertajam. It is the main road serving the neighbourhood of Padang Lalang. The eastern end of Jalan Padang Lalang connects with Jalan Sungai Rambai, at the junction with Jalan Betek. The western end is presently a no-through road. There is supposed to be a flyover to connect it with Jalan Permatang Batu, but as of the information on November 2017, this was not built yet. The flyover would carry Jalan Padang Lalang over the railway tracks.

For much of the length of Jalan Padang Lalang, you can see the railway tracks to its immediate north. Jalan Padang Lalang passes under the flyover of Jalan Nangka. Only the southern junction of Jalan Padang Lalang is connected to the Jalan Nangka flyover. In 2012, the State Public Works Department had requested to the Transport Minister for the ramps to be constructed on the north side of Jalan Padang Lalang to connect with the flyover, but this was not carried out due to budget constraint.1
