Jalan Sekolah La Salle (5 March 2013)
Jalan Sekolah La Salle is a minor road in the Batu Gantong neighbourhood of
George Town, Penang. It commemorates the now defunct La Salle School. Occupying the La Salle School property is its successor, the
St Xavier's Primary School, as well as
Shang Wu Primary School. Both La Salle and St Xavier's were established by the La Salle Brothers, a group of Catholic missionaries.
Although there is no La Salle School in Penang today, the name Jalan Sekolah La Salle lives on. The road is in two parts, separated by a bottleneck which is passable only by pedestrians and motorcyclists. That bottleneck is a bridge across the canalised
Sungai Air Itam.
The northern portion of Jalan Sekolah La Salle connects with
Jalan Batu Gantung. In between, it forms junctions with
Lahat Road and Lengkok Lumba Kuda. The southern portion of Jalan Sekolah La Salle connects with
Jalan Air Itam, and forms junctions with
Jalan Kuda,
Lorong Lumba Kuda,
Solok Sekolah La Salle and
Taman Lumba Kuda.
