Jalan Sungai Dua once passed through vegetable and poultry farms, but today has been almost completely urbanised. Various housing estates have been developed along its stretch, among them

Taman Pekaka to the west.
Jalan Sungai Dua forms the southern border of
Universiti Sains Malaysia. As much, many of the commercial properties near the southern gate of the university provide auxiliary services to the institution. In particular along University Heights and Sri Saujana shoplots are bookstores and photostating shops that receive the bulk of their business from the university students.
