Kurama District, Kyoto

Kurama District (GPS: 35.03794, 135.74866) is a place on the outskirt of Kyoto. It is regarded as the abode of gods and demons. This forested village is the venue of the annual Fire Festival, held there every 22 October.

Among the sights in Kurama District are:
  1. Kibune
    Village comprising a cluster of inns and teahouses beside a stream.

  2. Kurama-dera
    Temple built in AD 770 to protect Kyhoto from evil forces.
