Kunitachi (Japanese: 国立市) is a city on the central part of
Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. It covers 8.15 sq km (3.15 sq mi) and has a population of 75,000 people (2012 estimate).
Kunitachi is located on Kōshū Kaidō, the medieval highway connecting Edo with Kofu in present-day
Yamanashi Prefecture. The present city was established in 1967.
