Ōme (Japanese: 青梅市), also written as Oume, is a city on the northwestern part of
Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. It covers 103.26 sq km (39.87 sq mi) and has a population of 140,000 people (2012 estimate). It is bordered by
Saitama Prefecture as well as Hinode,
Hamura and Okutama in Tokyo.
The present city of Ōme was only founded in 1951 through the merger of several towns in the area. It was name after one of the towns in the area which was famous for growing Japanese apricots.
