Japanese Buffet Dinner, 17 March, 2017

My wife and I had the pleasure of trying out the Japanese Buffet Dinner at Cititel Penang on 17 March, 2017. We were there, along with a number of bloggers, at the invitation of the hotel's Communications Manager. When we arrived, we saw the glorious array of food already decked out and ready to be eaten.

There is a sushi station with a wide range of sushi and sashimi, along with their accompaniments. There is also tempura items, miso soup, and Japanese noodles udon and soba. Among the main items which I enjoyed very much include the Soft Shelled Crab Tempura, which are so crispy; the Grilled Saba Mackerel; the Salmon Head with Teriyaki Sauce (always my favourite whenever I come to Cititel Penang); the Chawanmushi; Mussels with Wasabi Mayonnaise, and Japanese Chicken Curry.

If you love seafood - and I do - you would find all sorts of seafood on ice, including Oysters, Prawns, Scallops and Green-Lipped Mussels. As for the Antipasto, there's Marinated Mushrooms, Marinated and Grilled Capsicum, Semi-Dried Tomatoes (I like this very much), and various pickled items.

There are other items at the Japanese buffet also, from local to international. We particularly enjoyed the rojak, for which Cititel is famous for. There's also salad, breads, cakes, chocolate fondue and various drinks.

We had a very nice time at the Japanese Buffet Dinner, and we thank Cititel Penang for allowing us the opportunity to enjoy its wonderful food and hospitality.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
