Jeep Track at the Penang Botanic Gardens (2 August 2011)


The Jeep Track, as its name suggests, is a hill track built for 4-wheel-drive vehicles to reach Penang Hill from the Penang Botanic Gardens. The track is the only means of reaching Penang Hill by vehicle.

The Jeep Track is maintained by the Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya, JKR). Individuals and private vehicles wishing to make use of the track need to get written permission from the JKR office, to be presented to the security guard stationed at the bottom of the track.

The Penang Botanic Gardens Jeep Track is popular among hikers who use it to reach Penang Hill. It is just one of several routes up the hill, the rest going through the forest.
