Jelutong Pedestrian Bridge is one of two pedestrian bridges along Jalan Jelutong, the other being the Sungai Pinang Pedestrian Bridge. The Jelutong Pedestrian Bridge provides safe crossing of Jalan Jelutong near the Jelutong Market. However, despite its presence, there are also two zebra crossings along that stretch. As a result, the pedestrian bridge is hardly used, as most people prefer to wait for the light at the zebra crossing.

To improve traffic flow and encourage more people to use this pedestrian bridge, escalators should be built at both ends to help pedestrians ascend it. This will be helpful to the elderly. At the same time, this stretch of Jalan Jelutong should be fenced to prevent direct pedestrian access that will put themselves in harms way and impede smooth vehicular flow.
