Jurassic Research Center is an interactive activity centre at The TOP in Komtar, Penang. Created to educate and entertain, the centre has informative exhibits on paleontology, from displays of fossils to replicas of excavation sites.
Two of the highlights of the Jurassic Research Center are the Dinosaur Lab, where dinosaur eggs are hatched, and the Jurassic Park, where is inhabited by life-style dinosaurs. These mechanical dinosaurs move and make realistic sounds.
As I wandered through the Jurassic Research Center, I am conscious that on one hand, the creators of this attraction have gone to great pains to stimulate a research centre where dinosaurs could be hatched and bred, and on the other hand, how tacky the exhibits appear. At that moment, I realised the necessity to put aside the jaded viewpoint of an adult, and see things through the eye of a child.
Just think of it: if you were to ask a famous scientist, how he got interested in science, he might point to a tattered, dog-eared science magazine or comic book which a grown up might dismiss as simplistic or childish. So too with the Jurassic Research Center. It may be just the catalyst to propel an impressionable child into one day becoming a world-class scientist, and he could trace his interest back to his visit here.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
