Kampung Melayu Flats (GPS: 5.40018, 100.28462) in Air Itam is one of the oldest low-cost high-rise public housing projects in Penang. Comprising 2 blocks of 16-storey apartments, the Kampung Melayu flats were built in the late 1950s. Each unit of Kampung Melayu Flats has two bedrooms and one bathroom. Total built up area per unit is 550 sqft. Presently (August 2013) each unit is going for around RM80,000.
