Kampung Perlis paddy fields, Balik Pulau (9 May 2004)
Kampung Perlis is a small Malay village in
Balik Pulau, on the southwest part of Penang Island. The village is located along Jalan Bahru, near the junction with Jalan Kampung Pulau Betong. It has one of the last remaining expanse of paddy field on the island.
The call to fame for Kampung Perlis is its stall selling
Laksa Janggus, a Malay-style laksa that earned its popularity after appearing in local television. I have gone there to taste the laksa, but I find not as spectacular as I have expected. Nonetheless, if you are interested to try this laksa, head to Kampung Perlis.
