Kechara Soup Kitchen Penang (KSK) is a centre that provides free meals to the needy. It was established in 2010, and is presently based at Ariffin Court. The centre had its official opening on 20 August, 2011. It is one of at least three Kechara Soup Kitchens in the country, the other two in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. As with the other centres, Kechara Soup Kitchen Penang was initiated by a follower of Tsem Rinpoche, said to be a spiritual reincarnate of an enlightened being of Tibetan Buddhism who founded the Kechara Buddhist organisation.

Kechara Soup Kitchen Penang distribute packed meals to the needy, which include the destitute and homeless within George Town. It often receives food donations and assistance from individuals as well as other organisations such as the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara.

Getting there

From the Komtar Bus Terminal, head west on Tek Soon Street until Penang Road. Turn right and follow Penang Road till junction of Burmah Road. Go along Burmah Road a distance of 40 meters and you reach the junction of Ariffin Court (Halaman Ariffin) on your left. Do down Ariffin Court to see Kechara Soup Kitchen on your right.
