Kedai Kopi Quan Zhou (13 July 2014)
Kedai Kopi Quan Zhou (GPS: 5.40653, 100.31912) is a coffee shop along Sungai Pinang Road in
George Town, Penang. It operates in a centralized format, with all orders of drinks and food from a single waiter. Kedai Kopi Quan Zhou provides ready-to-eat rice and noodle dishes. The name Quan Zhou refers to a city in Fujian Province in Southern China where quite a number of early 20th century Hokkien-speaking immigrants in Penang came from. Based on the name of the coffee shop, I am wondering aloud whether the dishes were cooked to Quan Zhou style.
I paid a visit to Kedai Kopi Quan Zhou on 13 July, 2014. As it was our first time there, we asked the waitress to recommend what the coffee shop has to offer. From the choices provided, we ordered pig trotter bihun and oyster noodles. The dishes were quite tasty though in our opinion the pig trotter bihun was quite salty. That is probably because they use a whole tin of canned pig trotters. That dish alone cost about RM16. The oyster noodle cost RM11. In comparison, it was less salty, and allowed us some respite from the salty dish. I remember being rather thirsty after the meal.
