Kim Seng Kopitiam (24 May 2015)
Kim Seng Kopitiam (GPS: 5.37232, 100.21884; Simplified/Traditional Chinese: 金成咖啡店, Pinyin: Jīnchéng Kāfēi Diàn) is a coffee shop in Botanica.CT in Balik Pulau. It is located along Jalan Sungai Air Putih. The coffee shop presently sells only laksa and char koay teow. We learned that the laksa here relocated from the coffee shop which is at the junction of Jalan Balik Pulau with Jalan Tun Sardon, after which another operator took over that stall. On our first visit, we tried out both the laksa and the char koay teow.
It doesn't help that I have just had char koay teow earlier in the day, so the one over here compares poorly. The price of each item is RM4.00, so I can say it is not really cheap for Balik Pulau.
When we were at the coffee shop, we got to talk with the owner, and he was saying something about selling his laksa in the Balik Pulau pekan. But it didn't register on me at that time that he meant the stall at the junction coffee shop in Balik Pulau. That was one of my favourite Balik Pulau laksa. Yet, I did not recognise it as such when I ate it. Just take a look and compare it with the photos I have taken at the other coffee shop.
Good thing I didn't know it when I tasted it. Otherwise, I would have been influenced to think of it as being better than it actually is. Strange, actually, how much we are influenced by branding and our own memory. Having said that, I have since returned to Kim Seng Kopitiam for the laksa a number of times.

As you enter Botanica.CT along Jalan Sungai Air Puteh, you will reach two consecutive rows of shophouses on your right. Kim Seng Kopitiam is the coffee shop at the end of the first row, beside the side alley.
