Kiyomi Japanese Restaurant (23 April 2015)
Kiyomi is a Japanese restaurant at
Elit Avenue in
Bayan Baru, Penang. I went there for dinner with my wife on 23 April, 2015. I had the soft shell crab (RM26) and chawan mushi with salmon roe (RM10) while my wife had the grilled mackerel (RM24). In addition, we also ordered a down of sukiyaki (RM25) to be taken together. I had cold green tea while my wife hot green tea. Our bill came to be RM95.70, inclusive of 10% service charge.
On the whole, we enjoyed our dinner, even though it is on the high side for us, as far as the amount spent within a single meal. The chawan mushi is very smooth, which is how I would expect it to be, and the salmon roe burst in my mouth when I bite into it. It is a nice difference to the plain chawan mushi. I am also happy with the soft shell crab, and I enjoyed a few bites from my wife's mackerel.
During the whole time that I was at the restaurant (on a rainy Thursday evening), there was only one table occupied. Business quite on the slow side, but I suppose it picks up during the weekend. The high price of a Japanese meal is also probably a factor.
