Komtar Bus Terminal (16 May 2018)
Komtar Bus Terminal (GPS: 5.41408, 100.34157) is a major bus bus in
George Town. Most of the buses from the
Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal will pass through here before branching off in separate directions.
At the Komtar Bus Terminal, you can catch buses going to the north, central, south and west parts of Penang Island, as well as some buses that go to the mainland. Right now the main bus operator in Penang is the government-owned
Rapid Penang. The terminal is located along
Tek Soon Street, although buses approach it via Jalan Ria and they emerge from the terminal into Jalan Ria once more.

Effective 18 November 2009, buses are segregated according to destination. Lane One is for buses to
Teluk Bahang, Lane Two to the
Penang Botanic Gardens and
Air Itam, Lane Three to
Farlim and
Paya Terubong, Lane Four to Bayan Baru and
Sungai Ara, and Lane Five to
Balik Pulau,
Batu Maung and
Butterworth. Buses are only allowed to drop and pick up passengers; they are not allowed to wait for more than five minutes.
In addition to buses, commuters may also catch taxi from the taxi stands located beside
Prangin Mall and those parked outside the
ICT Digital Mall.
