Kongsi, Balik Pulau (2 February 2013)
Kongsi is the name of the pekan, or town centre, of Balik Pulau. The name "kongsi" means "share" or "communal", and is traced to the days when Balik Pulau was a largely agricultural centre for the growing of nutmeg, clove and pepper. At the very centre of town is the roundabout with the water sprout erected by
Koh Seang Tat in the later part of the 19th century. A river that flows through the west coast of Balik Pulau is also named
Sungai Kongsi.

Komtar. It is very far from the city centre.
