Novice monks at Wat Pak Khan, Luang Prabang (28 December 2005)
Wat Pak Khan (GPS: 19.89724, 102.1447), also written
Wat Pakkhan and
Vat Phak Khan, and in full,
Wat Pak Khan Khammungkhun, is a small Lao temple in
Luang Prabang. It is located along Sakarine Road, close to the confluence of the Nam Khan with the
Mekong. The name Wat Pak Khan means "temple at the mouth of the Khan river". It is the first temple in Luang Prabang that I visited while Luang Prabang.
Just as with many other temples in Luang Prabang, Wat Pak Khan has quarters for novice monks. Most of these novices are very friendly and approachable. Within the sim of Wat Pak Khan is a seated Buddha image surrounded by smaller images.
