My wife and I had the pleasure for trying out the set lunch at Le Périgord, a French fusion restaurant in Pulau Tikus. Priced at RM19.90 nett, we feel this is good value for money, for French food.
The lunch set of Le Périgord comprises the Soup of the Day, the Main Course and a Drink.
For the Main Course, diners get to choose one of the items:
1. Grill Salmon served with butter rice and seasonal vegetables.
2. Tonkatsu, which is free-range pork loin, deep fried with panko crumbs and served with home-made mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
3. Aglio Olio Pasta, which is spaghetti with prawns, chilli flakes, olive oil, garlic and onion.
4. Chicken and Mushroom Pasta, which is linguine with chicken and mushroom, cream sauce and oilive oil.
Also available as added on are the restaurant's petite cheesecakes, priced at RM6.80 each.
My wife chose the Chicken and Mushroom Pasta while I chose the Grilled Salmon. We tried out each other's food. I enjoyed the grilled salmon very much. I find that it is quite a big chunk, so it's quite good value for the price. Also, the fish was nicely grilled. Although big in size, it was not burnt, nor the inside undercooked. The flesh was still juicy throughout, just the way I like it.
When I talked to the chef afterwards, I was told that some diners felt the portion size to be small. To me, the portion size is fine, maybe because I am quite a small eater. I didn't even intend to finish the butter rice that came with my salmon, wanting to leave some room to try out the cheesecakes. I do acknowledge that the amount of soup is not large, compared to many other restaurants which charge even lower for their lunch sets, but we need to bear in mind the quality of ingredients used. But I quite understand that local diners would want big value for money, and would not be accustomed to portion size in a French restaurant (even if it's French-fusion). To me, RM19.90 nett is still very good price for the quality of food. Of course, if you are still hungry, you can order the petite cheesecakes, at RM6.80 each.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
