Le Périgord's Sakura Cheesecake

Le Périgord's Sakura CheesecakeLe Périgord's Sakura Cheesecake (27 April 2016)

Now, this is one fantastic cheesecake. My wife and I were served a piece (this piece) on our recent visit to Le Périgord. If you follow my Facebook timeline, you'd see that my wife often makes cheesecakes at home, and we use the finest quality ingredients for our own not-for-sale cakes. But we can't make this cheesecake.

That's because Le Périgord's Sakura Cheesecake uses the edible petals of the Japanese cherry blossoms. It is made by the restaurant's Japanese pastry chef to celebrate Mother's Day. Among the other ingredients of the cheesecake include Sakura wine and Sake. As a result, this cheesecake has the most wonderful combination of sweetness and tanginess. You can tell it's good cheesecake when you try it. As soon as we've tried the cheesecake, we called the pastry chef over to congratulate him. He was delighted that we loved his cheesecake, and it's our pleasure to tell him how much we loved it.

Although my wife and I have seen lots of cherry blossoms in Japan, this is the first time ever that we have eaten a cheesecake made with the petals.

As the Sakura Cheesecake uses real sakura blossoms, you can try it only for a limited time period, until the restaurant exhausts its supply of the blossoms. Contact Le Périgord if you wish to try a piece.
