Lebuhraya Gelugor (18 May 2013)
Lebuhraya Gelugor is a major road on the southern part of
George Town. It runs in a roughly east-west direction between
Gelugor and
Jelutong. On the eastern end it connects with Jalan Gelugor while on the western end it connects with
Lebuhraya Batu Lanchang.
Lebuhraya Gelugor was first developed into its present length in the early 1960s, when the area experienced housing development. The road is also called
Gelugor Avenue (not Gelugor Highway, as appearing in Google Map). As traffic through the Gelugor and Jelutong areas increased, it was turned into a one-way street running east to west, a development that remained until the end of the first decade of the 21st century, when it reverted to a two-way traffic flow.
