Leng Sien Keong Temple, Armenian Street Ghaut (30 June 2012)
Leng Sien Keong (Penang Hokkien: Leng3 Sien3 Keong1 靈仙宮 [leŋ-siɛn-kiɔŋ]) is a Chinese temple on Armenian Street Ghaut. It occupies one of the former warehouse outlets along the street.
According to the Ang Kong Keng website (https://www.angkongkeng.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=288&Itemid=28), the temple was established before 1972. The principal deity of this temple is 濟公活佛, known in Pinyin as Jìgōng Huófó and in Penang Hokkien as Chee1 Kong1 Huat3 Hood1, or Ji Gong in English.
Ji Gong is a deified Buddhist monk from the Southern Song Dynasty, who lived from AD 1130 to AD 1207. He was born with the name 李修元 (PY: Lǐ Xiū-yuán, PH: Lee1 Siu3 Guan2). He was a folk hero in China, and after his death was made a folk religious deity.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
