LinkBike is a state-supported private initiative to make George Town a more cycling-friendly city. It is operated by Fast Rent Bike (PG) Sdn Bhd, which has been installing electronically operated bicycle-rental docking stations, to eventually cover 25 locations within the City of Penang Island, from Straits Quay in the north down to Queensbay in the south.
To use LinkBike, one should first sign up at their website where one buys credit. To pick up a bike from any of the docking station, scan the QR Code on the LinkBike app with a smartphone, or use a LinkBike card. The bicycle can then be taken off the docking station and ridden anywhere on Penang Island, to be returned to the same or different docking station.
LinkBike offers very attractive rentals for bicycles, at just RM2 for a 24-hour period, RM3 for 48 hours, RM4 for 72 hours, RM10 for 7 days, RM20 for 1 month and a whole year for a mere RM30, making it even cheaper to rent a LinkBike than to buy your own bicycle.
If you have any questions, you may call the LinkBike Hotline at 016 512 9292

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
