Macalister Lane Chendul Stall is one of the cendol stalls in George Town. Although it is not as popular as the Penang Road Teochew Chendul Stall, it does have its share of regular patrons.
The Macalister Lane Chendul Stall is at the junction of Macalister Lane and Burmah Road on most days, and do very good business if the day is particularly hot. However, as it has not received the amount of publicity as the famous cendol stalls on Keng Kwee Street, it receives a smaller stream of customers.
29 July, 2014: I returned to the Macalister Lane cendol stall on a rainy day. There was absolutely no customers. My wife and I were the only ones ordering cendol, even with raindrops falling on our heads. The cendol is served in stainless steel bowls, which makes them icy cold. I can smell the wonderful aroma of the palm sugar even before we arrive at the stall.

The coconut milk was noticeably diluted today. And we soon found out why. While we were still consuming the cendol, the seller's wife returned to the stall with a plastic bag of santan. She proceeded to scold him for forgetting to bring the santan and she had to rush back to get it.
In comparison to the cendol at Keng Kwee Street, the Macalister Lane cendol is lighter in colour. I believe it is made using only pandan juice, and no additional colouring, hence the softer colour.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
