Straits Eclectic-style townhouses along Macalister Lane (29 September 2012)
Macalister Lane, or
Lorong Macalister (Traditional Chinese: 姓王公司後巷, Simplified Chinese: 姓王公司后巷), is the first in a series of side roads running parallel to
Penang Road and
Anson Road. It connect with Macalister Road on one end and Burmah Road on the other. As with Macalister Road, Macalister Lane was likewise named after Norman Macalister, the
Lieutenent Governor of Penang in the 19th century.
Today, Macalister Lane is perhaps most famous for the
Chee Cheong Fun located at Seow Fong Lye Coffee Shop.
Macalister Lane also has quite a number of well-preserved
Straits Eclectic-style townhouses, many of which still retain their frontage in well-preserved state.
