E37: East-West Link Expressway (17 September 2016)
East-West Link Expressway is a highway on the southern part of
Kuala Lumpur. An extension of the
Federal Highway, it connects the highway in the west to the interchange of Jalan Cheras and the
Cheras-Kajang Expressway (E7). The East-West Link Expressway is popularly known as the
Salak Expressway. It opened to the public on 17 August, 1995.
Some websites, such as Wikipedia, states that the East-West Link Expressway carries the expressway code of E37 which confuses it with the
Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway. In fact the expressway code of E37 does not appear anywhere on the East-West Link Expressway. This is probably based on the highway being maintained by toll concessionaire ANIH Berhad, which also maintains the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway. Signages on the gantries along the East-West Link Expressway are white text on blue background, not green background, indicating that the East-West Link Expressway as a Malaysian "highway" rather than a true "expressway". Since 17 May, 2011, toll collection on this highway has been abolished.
