Kluang Railway Station (3 August, 2019)
Kluang Railway Station (GPS: 2.03363, 103.3175) is one of the landmarks of
Kluang, Johor. It was built in 1915, at the same time that the town was established. The station is between the Paloh Railway Station and the Mengkibol Railway Station, both of which also within
Kluang District. The availability of regular train services stopping in Kluang helped to spur economic activity in the town, making it the biggest town in the central part of Johor.
At the time of my most recent visit to Kluang (3-5 August, 2019), a railway electrification project was in progress for the stretch between Gemas to Johor Bahru. At the Kluang Railway Station, I could see the half-completed piers of possible an elevated railway track for the
KTM Electric Train Service.
