Church of St Louis (GPS: 2.03802, 103.31684) is a Roman Catholic church in Kluang, Johor. It is located in a spacious compound fronting Jalan Omar. Next to the church is Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil Jalan Haji Manan. Nearby is the hall of Persatuan Malaysian Ceylonese Johor Tengah.
The Catholic faith arrived in the town of Kluang due to efforts of missionaries from the Paris Foreign Missions Society (Société des Missions étrangères de Paris, usually abbreviated as M.E.P.), in particular Father Henri Duvelle1, who was active in church planting work in Johor in the early 20th century.
St Louis Church was established in 1928 and was named in rememberance of Father Duvelle's brother, Louis Duvelle, who had passed away that same year, and also after his brother's patron saint, St Louis (who reigned as Louis IX of France).
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
