B. Melayu
Touhid Fort and Grave (GPS: 1.73486, 103.90856) is one of the historical sites in
Kota Tinggi, Johor. The name Touhid refers not to a person but to the site itself, which once served as the 8th capital of the Johor Empire, during the reign of Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah III (1623-1677) and again during the reign of
Bendahara Tun Habab, who became Sultan Abdul Jalil Riayat Shah (1699-1718).
Touhid Fort was built by Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah III who was in good terms with the Dutch, and was able to import bricks introduced by the Dutch in the construction of the fort. There is also a graveyard in the area for Johor's nobility, and this is known as Touhid Grave.
Touhid Fort was abandoned in 1642 following an outbreak of a disease there, forcing the population to relocate, and a new capital for Johor was established at Pasir Raja.
