Holy Light Church, Johor Bahru (14 September, 2016)
Holy Light Church (GPS: 1.46508, 103.75744) is a Presbyterian church in Johor Bahru. Founded in 1886 by Presbyterian missionary, Reverend John Angus Bethune Cook, it is one of the oldest churches in the state capital. The church has its address on Jalan Gertak Merah. In the early days, there would be services in Chinese and also in English. The Chinese language used was originally Teochew, before it was eventually replaced by Mandarin.
In the first decade of the 21st century, the English services relocated to Hillville (and is now known as Holy Light Church English, or HLCE), while the Chinese services are still held at the original site at Jalan Gertak Merah in downtown Johor Bahru.
